1. Summary
- No account. The App has no sign-in and never asks for your name, e-mail address or phone number.
- Your media stays on your device. Photos, videos and audio you import or record are edited on the phone and saved to your gallery. We never receive them.
- What reaches Google: crash reports, anonymous usage statistics, a push-notification token, an app-integrity check, and the device’s Advertising ID used by AdMob to show ads.
- Your controls: ads consent and “privacy options” in Settings, notification switches, Android permission settings, and resetting or deleting your Advertising ID.
2. How the App works
MONTAJI is a video editor. You pick photos and videos from your device, arrange them on a timeline, add text, filters, effects, transitions, music and voice-over, and export a finished video. All of this editing and rendering happens on your device. We operate no servers that store your projects or your media.
The App does connect to the internet for a small number of services run by Google LLC: showing ads, fetching remote configuration (for example which ad formats are enabled), reporting crashes, counting anonymous usage, delivering push notifications and verifying that the App is a genuine copy. Those services are described in the sections below.
An internet connection is not required to edit or export videos. Without a connection the App simply shows no ads.
3. Information the App uses
3.1 Content and data that stay on your device
| Data | Where it comes from | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Photos, videos and audio you add to a project | You choose them through the Android photo picker, record them with the camera, or record a voice-over with the microphone | The originals stay where they were. The App keeps a reference to each file plus small thumbnails and caches in its private storage. |
| Projects and drafts (timeline, texts, filters, settings, cover image) | Created by you while editing | App private storage on your device. |
| Exported videos | Rendered by the App when you tap Export | Your gallery, in the Movies/MONTAJI folder, through the Android media store. They remain after you uninstall the App. |
| Settings (language, light/dark theme, notification choices, ads consent choice, onboarding completed, temporary unlocks) | Chosen by you | App preferences on your device (they may be included in Android backups, see section 13). |
3.2 Technical data sent to Google services
| Data | Service | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising ID of your device, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device model and operating system, information about the ads you see and tap | Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) and its ad partners | To serve, personalise (where you consent) and measure ads. See Advertising. |
| Crash reports: app version, device model, operating system version, free memory, a stack trace and the App’s state at the time of the crash | Firebase Crashlytics | To detect and fix crashes. Reports never include your media, your projects or any contact details. |
| Usage events: screens visited, export started or failed (with the technical reason), a locked item unlocked by watching an ad, result of the app-integrity check, session length, device category and approximate country from the IP address | Google Analytics for Firebase | To understand which features are used and to improve the App. Analytics in MONTAJI is configured not to collect the Advertising ID. |
| Firebase installation ID (a random identifier created when the App is installed) | Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging | Lets Google services tell installations apart. It is reset when you uninstall the App. |
| Push-notification token and the notification topics you subscribe to (new templates, app updates, tips, in your language) | Firebase Cloud Messaging | To deliver the notifications you opted in to. |
| App-integrity verdict (whether the App is an unmodified copy installed from Google Play, on a genuine Android device) | Google Play Integrity API and Firebase App Check | To protect the ad system from fraud. See Security. |
| Remote configuration requests (app version, language, installation ID) | Firebase Remote Config | To fetch settings such as which ad formats are enabled and how often they may appear. |
Google acts as our service provider for these services and also as an independent controller for the advertising data it processes under its own Privacy Policy. How Google uses information from apps that use its services is described here.
4. Information we do not collect
- No name, e-mail address, phone number, password or any other account data — the App has no accounts.
- No upload of your photos, videos, audio, projects or exported videos. They never leave your device unless you share them through the Android share sheet with an app of your choice.
- No access to your whole photo library: media is selected one file at a time through the Android photo picker.
- No contacts, no precise location (GPS), no SMS, no call logs, no calendar, no files outside the App’s own storage and the export folder.
- No payment card or bank details. The App sells nothing.
- No biometric data, health data or government identifiers.
- No recording in the background: the camera and microphone work only while the recording screen is open, and recording stops when you leave the App.
5. Permissions and why we ask
The App asks for a permission only at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and every feature can be declined without affecting the rest of the App.
Camera
To record clips for your project directly in the App. Recordings are saved to your project on the device only.
Microphone
To capture sound for the recorder and the voice-over tool. Audio is stored on your device only.
Notifications
To tell you when an export has finished and, if you opt in, about new templates, updates and tips.
Photos and videos
The App uses the Android photo picker, which shows you your media and gives the App access only to the files you select.
Storage (Android 9 and lower only)
To save the finished video to the Movies folder. On Android 10 and later no storage permission is needed.
Internet and network state
For ads, crash reports, analytics, remote configuration, notifications and integrity checks. Editing works offline.
Foreground service and wake lock
Keeps the export running with a visible progress notification if you switch apps or the screen turns off. It stops as soon as the export ends or you cancel it.
You can revoke any permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → MONTAJI → Permissions. The Data & Permissions page explains the exact steps.
6. How we use information
- To provide the App: edit, render and export your videos on your device, remember your settings and drafts, and show the progress notification during an export.
- To show ads that keep the App free, including temporary unlocks of locked templates and effects when you choose to watch a rewarded ad.
- To keep the App working: detect and fix crashes and export failures.
- To improve the App: understand, in aggregate, which tools, templates and effects are used.
- To send notifications you have opted in to.
- To prevent fraud and abuse: verify that the App is a genuine, unmodified copy before ads are served.
- To comply with the law and to respond to your requests.
We do not use your information to build profiles for purposes unrelated to the App, we do not sell it, and we never use your media for anything other than the editing you asked for.
7. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (our Terms of Use): providing the editing features, exports and notifications you request.
- Consent: personalised advertising and the storage of advertising identifiers, which you give or refuse in the consent screen shown by the App (you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options); and notifications, which you enable or disable yourself.
- Legitimate interests: non-personalised advertising that funds the App, crash reporting, aggregated analytics, fraud prevention and app-integrity checks. We balance these interests against your rights and keep the data involved to a minimum.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information under applicable law.
9. Advertising
The App is free and funded by ads served by Google AdMob. You may see:
- App-open ads when the App starts or returns from the background, at most once every few minutes and never during the first-launch setup.
- Interstitial (full-screen) ads at natural breaks, for example when opening a tool, leaving the editor, or after an export has finished. They are limited in frequency per session and per day.
- Rewarded ads that you choose to watch to temporarily unlock a locked template, effect or transition. Locked items are clearly marked, the unlock is explained before the ad plays, and nothing is ever charged.
- Native ads inside some screens, always labelled “Ad”.
To serve and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may use your device’s Advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and information about your device and the ads you interact with. Personalised ads are shown only where allowed and, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, only if you consent.
Consent
Where the law requires it, the App shows a consent screen from Google’s User Messaging Platform after the first-launch setup. You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options inside the App. If you refuse, you still receive non-personalised ads (or no ads) and all editing features keep working.
Your advertising controls
- Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads): choose “Delete advertising ID” or “Reset advertising ID”, and opt out of ads personalisation.
- Google’s own controls at adssettings.google.com.
- The list of Google’s certified ad technology providers is published here.
Ads are served only after the App has passed the integrity check described in section 12; if the check fails, no ads are shown and no advertising data is sent.
10. Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used (for example which screens and tools are popular, and how often exports succeed) and Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes. The data is technical and aggregated; we never set a user identifier, and the App’s Analytics configuration disables collection of the Advertising ID. Crash reports may include the state of the App at the moment of the crash but never your media, your projects or any contact details.
11. Notifications
- Export notifications are created on your device by the App itself: a progress notification while an export runs and a message when it has finished. They involve no server.
- Optional notifications about new templates and effects, app updates and tips are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging. Subscribing stores a notification token and your chosen topics (one per category and language) with Google. You can switch every category off in Settings → Notifications; turning notifications off deletes the token.
Notifications are opt-in on Android 13 and later and can be blocked for the App at any time in Android Settings.
12. Security and app integrity
- All communication with Google services uses encrypted HTTPS connections. The App contains no web browser component and allows no unencrypted traffic.
- Your media and projects are processed locally and kept in the App’s private storage, which other apps cannot read.
- Before ads are served, the App asks the Google Play Integrity API (through Firebase App Check) to confirm that it is an unmodified copy installed from Google Play on a genuine device. The verdict contains no personal information. A copy that has been modified or re-signed is also detected by the App itself and will not run.
- No security measure is perfect. If you believe your device has been compromised, uninstall the App and reinstall it from Google Play.
13. Device backups
Android may include the App’s settings (language, theme, notification and consent choices) in the device backup it keeps in your Google account, and may restore them when you set up a new phone, according to your device’s backup settings. Projects, drafts and media are not included in these backups. You control Android backup in Settings → Google → Backup.
14. How long information is kept
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Projects, drafts, thumbnails, settings | On your device until you delete the project, clear the App’s storage or uninstall the App. |
| Exported videos | In your gallery until you delete them. Uninstalling the App does not remove them. |
| Temporary unlocks earned from rewarded ads | Expire automatically (typically within an hour) and are stored only on your device. |
| Crash reports (Crashlytics) | 90 days. |
| Analytics events | Google retains event-level data associated with an installation for up to 14 months; aggregated statistics longer. |
| Notification token | Until you turn notifications off, uninstall the App, or the token is unused for about 270 days. |
| Advertising data (AdMob) | According to Google’s own retention rules; you can delete or reset the Advertising ID at any time. |
| E-mails you send us | As long as needed to answer you, then deleted within 12 months. |
15. Deleting your data
Because the App has no accounts, you are in direct control of your data:
- Uninstalling the App (or Android Settings → Apps → MONTAJI → Storage → Clear storage) deletes every project, draft, cache and setting on your device and invalidates the Firebase installation ID and the notification token.
- Exported videos are deleted from your gallery like any other video.
- Advertising data is disconnected from you when you choose “Delete advertising ID” in Android Settings.
- Data held by Google services is identified only by random identifiers we cannot link to a person. If you nevertheless want us to request its erasure, e-mail userconplay@gmail.com; we will act within 30 days and tell you what could be done.
Step-by-step instructions are on the Data & Permissions page.
16. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
- EEA / UK / Switzerland: rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss FADP. Withdraw ads consent in Settings → Privacy options.
- California and other US states: we do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined by those laws beyond what Google AdMob does under your consent and device controls; you can opt out of personalised ads as described in section 9. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Everywhere else (for example Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, Australia’s Privacy Act, Türkiye’s KVKK, the data-protection laws of the Gulf states and of the rest of the world): equivalent rights apply; write to us and we will honour them regardless of where you live.
To exercise any right, e-mail userconplay@gmail.com. Because we hold no account data, we may ask you for the technical identifiers involved (for example your Advertising ID) to locate anything at all.
17. International transfers
The App is distributed worldwide, and Google’s services process data on servers around the world, including in the United States. This means the technical data described in section 3 may be processed in a country other than yours, with different data-protection rules. Google relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and applies equivalent safeguards elsewhere. E-mails you send us are read by CONPLY and are not shared with anyone else.
18. Children
The App is a general-audience video editor and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not take part in Google Play’s “Designed for Families” program. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or the law changes. The effective date at the top always shows the current version. For material changes we will inform you inside the App or on the store listing before they take effect. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
